SCHERVIER PAVILION RESIDENTS, STAFF AND FAMILIES ENJOY TRADITIONAL EASTER EGG HUNT

It was another opportunity for the residents of Schervier Pavilion, a skilled nursing facility on the Warwick Campus of Bon Secours Charity Health System, to be around young smiling faces and join their families for a traditional and well attended event.

On Saturday, April 5, the staff at Schervier Pavilion organized and participated in an Easter Egg hunt on the grounds of the facility. After the families arrived, the children were assigned different areas according to their ages. And when they had found all the eggs, everyone was invited inside for refreshments and a door prize drawing.

By that time the residents had assembled in the lobby, many wearing the Easter bonnets that they crafted for the event. They had also made goodie gift baskets and bags and these were distributed to all the children.  And everyone had an opportunity to meet and pose with the Easter bunny.

Opportunities to participate in traditions like an Easter Egg hunt and other events are always available to the residents at Schervier Pavilion.

“We publish a calendar every month that’s filled with interesting and entertaining things to do throughout the day as well as some evenings.” Said Recreational Director Kari Call, who is a certified therapy recreation specialist (CTRS). “Therapeutic recreation is essential to the quality of life and the quality of care of individuals receiving health and human services at our facility.”

In addition to quality long term care services, Schervier Pavilion also offers a wide range of short-term (sub acute) care needs. Its sub acute services include IV therapy, Rehabilitation therapy and wound care. These services afford residents the ability to recuperate for a short time in the sub-acute unit of the facility and then return to the community where they can resume a more independent life. In some cases, they can then enter Schervier Pavilion’s Day-At-A-Time, an innovative medical adult day care program that provides nursing services, medication administration, ongoing evaluations, and stimulating activities tailored to each individual’s needs and abilities.
